Continuing with the 30th anniversary of the Reebok Classic Leather runner, the dynamic duo of Rick Williams and Roland “Ro Spit” Coit from Detroit’s premier boutique Burn Rubber bring us a rather awe-inspiring effort in the form of the “Spirit of Detroit ” Classic Leather Lux.
The ‘Spirit of Detroit’ is an actual city monument with a large bronze statue created by Marshall Fredericks and located at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Drawing from their inspiration, this rendition of the Classic Leather features a luxurious leather and nubuck upper with tan suede overlays on the tongue and heel. Additional details include the words “Family” & “God” embossed in metallic gold on each heal, the “Spirit of Detroit” statue insoles. Another symbolic touch lies on the tongue where we find a leather embossed Bible quote (2 Corinthians 3:17).
The shoes also come with an assortment of multi-colored shoes laces that represent each of Detroit’s national professional sport teams.
A very limited run of the Burn Rubber “Spirit of Detroit” Reebok Classic Leather Lux will go on sale this Saturday (3.9.13) in-store only at 12pm noon. Retail is $130 USD.
