Back in March, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the New Balance MT580 with 500 pairs of our global exclusive “Pine Barrens” edition. Now before the year ends, we’re honoring another beloved NB classic, the 999, which also celebrated a milestone birthday, turning 30 years old in 2016.
For our take on the timeless runner, we looked to New Balance’s incomparable history when it comes to the use of premium materials on their shoes. Inspired by camel hair and its popularity in fashion today, we outfitted the 999 in tan nappy suede for a look derived from the desert sands, but geared towards city streets.
Packer’s “CML” edition of the 999 features a combination of luxurious materials, supplementing the rough suede with micro-perfed pigskin on the toe box and side N logos and rich nubuck on the tongue and heel tabs. Supple brown leather trim combines with gradient coral accents to complete the look, along with reflective 3M panels on the heels and contrasting hits of cool grey on the midsole and outsole.
Like the “Pine Barrens”, this shoe will be a worldwide exclusive release only at Packer. Limited quantities will be available Saturday, December 10th, in-store at both locations and online at PackerShoes.com for a retail price of $150.
There are still more surprises to come, so stay tuned as we approach this weekend’s launch…
