In celebration of 30th anniversary of the original release of the Classic Leather, Reebok invited members of their global Certified Network to design their own versions of this timeless classic. Today we proudly present the Packer Shoes x Reebok Classic Leather “Aztec”.
The Aztec was Reebok’s first running shoe released on US soil in 1979. At the time it was the most expensive running shoe on the market priced at an astronomical $60. Borrowing cues from one classic and applying it to another “Classic”, the Packer Shoes x Reebok Classic Leather “Aztec” features a fluid mix of materials. Constructed using premium suede along the upper with a perforated nubuck toe box and ballistic mesh side panels for breathability, distressed leather vector logos and Packer Shoes branding on the insoles tongue, this edition is perfect for both casual and athletic purposes (as originally intended).
The Packer Shoes x Reebok Classic Leather “Aztec” will be releasing this Saturday (March 23rd) at 12pm noon EST both in-store and online @ PackerShoes.com. Retail will be $130 USD.
For this release the guys over at Hanon reworked the entire upper with an old school performance fabric by English textile co. Ventile as well as introducing a padded collar component made from a lux sheepskin leather.
Originally developed during the War for fighter pilot suits, Ventile is a fully water resisant fabric which is lightweight and constructed entirely from untreated cotton. Developed today for performance outerwear, the material’s unique properties are found in the densely woven yarn that expands to create a shield when in contact with water. As a result, Ventile, whilst having the natural feel that cotton provides, offers excellent protection against the elements. Additional design features to the Hanon x Clarks Traxter include a gasket sock liner ortholite memory footbed with a sheepskin top layer, leather hang tag, super light EVA sole unit a dual lace set.
A collaborative branded detail appears via a embossed leather heel tab, woven tongue label and multi screen insert. Each pair will come with a Ventile dust bag.
The Hanon x Clarks Traxter “Ventile” will is now available for purchase in-store only today. Any remaining stock will be available online @ PackerShoes.com @ 12pm noon Monday (3.18.13).
