Luxury streetwear label mastermind JAPAN has partnered up with adidas Originals Consortium for one final project before they close up shop after 15 years in the game. The capsule collection, ‘BEST of adidas Originals’, features iconic Originals apparel and footwear models chosen by MMJ, reworked with their signature jet-black palette and skull and bones logo.
The range stays true to the clean lines of Originals silhouettes, pulling its focus in on the premium materials used throughout.
mastermind JAPAN tackles classic adidas footwear – models much-loved by the Japanese market – such as popular running style ZX500, the basketball favourite Rivalry Hi, revolutionary-for-its-time Country and training shoes Gazelle and Promodel CF. The collection is unified with the repetition of materials used such as soft leather, laser cut leather, pigskin suede, flocked reflective logos and bone lace jewels, though these elements are executed slightly different for each shoe model. Every pair is encased in a special black box.
The adidas Originals by mastermind JAPAN collection (ZX500 OG, RIVALRY HI, Gazelle, Promodel and Superstar 80s) will release in-store tomorrow (June 3rd) at 12pm noon EST. Remaining stock (if any) will be made available for sale online at PackerShoes.com at an unspecified time later tomorrow afternoon. Retail will be $200-225 USD each (sold separately).
We were shocked by the terrible news that came out of Boston and have pushed back the launch of the Consortium Boston Super OG pack to May 18th 2013. Our hearts and prayers go out to the runners, spectators and everyone affected by the terrible events that took place during the Boston Marathon.
The Consortium Boston OG pack has been developed in honor of the Boston Marathon, the world’s oldest annual road racing event. Following the recent cowardly act and tragedy all Consortium accounts are invited to donate to the ONE FUND BOSTON. This donation will be used to assist the families of the victims who were killed and the victims who were most seriously affected as a result of the tragic events during the Boston Marathon.
This past week while we were up in Boston we had the opportunity to meet some of the people behind and involved with the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. The unfortunate and tragic events that stemmed from the day of the Marathon brought out some of the best in people. We fortunately were able to see the same in the response we had to the campaign we launched and we were honored and privileged to hand over a check for $25,000 to the DB&GC last Thursday evening.
One person involved in the DB&GC who we met is a man by the name of Don Rodman, an 82-year-old retired Bostonian business man born and raised in Dorchester who gives back to the community and has the energy and enthusiasm we all should strive for. The evening was both informative and an inspiration to us all and we are proud to have been a conduit to all of those who purchased and ended up giving to this tremendous cause.
This project which literally was turned on and run with could not have been pulled off without the hustle and extra hours put in by our staff and numerous people over at NB who understood that we were doing this on a whim and did whatever they could to make things run as smooth as possible.
Not trying to rest on our laurels, we are trying to take this one step further. Starting today May 15 at noon up until the end of day May Friday May 31, we are going to donate 10% of all sales thru our store and website to the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. That includes every single item we sell — 10% of that sale will go directly to the Club. We will also be leaving up the individual links which many people took advantage of which gives the opportunity to add to your sale or just donate a pre determined amount to the DB&GC.
Thank you again and we hope we can help ease some of the pain of this most tragic event.

Celebrating the world’s oldest annual running event, the Boston Marathon, adidas Consortium has taken one of its iconic running models to release in two special colorways. The Boston Super, which was originally created in 1984 to celebrate the famous marathon, draws inspiration from classic adidas sneakers such as the Phantom and the Centaur.
Here fans are presented with a decidedly retro silhouette in a patriotic OG colorway, as well as another that pays homage to the Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the Boston Marathon every year. A combination of mesh, suede and leather materials compose the upper on the shoe.
The adidas Consortium Boston Super OG Pack releases April 27th (4.27.13) both in-store and online @ Packer Shoes.
