Among the New York Yankees’ unprecedented 27 championship seasons, a trend has developed where the team has managed to win the World Series in exact 20 year intervals, starting in 1938 and continuing on for the ’58, ’78 and ’98 seasons.

With the 2018 Yankees now on a quest to keep that 20 year cadence going, we’ve partnered with New Era for the “Vicennial Collection”, featuring four fitted 5950 caps, each with the corresponding Yankee logo and World Series patch from those championship years.

When it comes to the most legendary names in baseball history, the New York Yankees have been home to a staggering share of the all-time greats. From Ruth to Gehrig, DiMaggio to Mantle, Jackson to Mattingly — through nearly every era of the sport, the Bronx Bombers have been represented by greatness and they’ve got the rings to prove it.

After wading through the unfamiliar mediocrity of their ’80s and early ’90s teams, the pieces started falling into place for what would become the kind of modern dynasty that is rarely seen in sports these days. At the core was a group of young homegrown players that would go on to solidify their place as the next generation of Yankee legends — none more so than Derek Jeter.

When the franchise gave Jeter a single digit number to wear — an honor reserved for the tip-top echelon of Yankee players — the pressure and expectations to be great seemed nearly impossible to deliver. But the man known as “The Captain” lived up to all that and more as he led by example on a daily basis, seemingly never failing to come through in the clutch and making headfirst dives into the stands and silky smooth flip plays at the plate seem like a routine day at the office.

Jeter helped lead the Yankees to five World Series rings over the course of his career, and with the team set to retire his number this weekend, we’ve partnered with Starter to create a special jacket honoring the man of the hour and the miraculous championship run he played such a crucial part in.

The jacket is a lightweight version of the Starter satin classics, perfect for spring weather and night games at the Stadium. In commemoration of the occasion, the traditional Yankee look is adorned with gold border edges and accents, with special gold World Series patches from the Jeter era running down the right arm.

Limited quantities available for both men (size S-3XL) and women (size S-XL) for a retail price of $160 each.

In addition to the Starter jacket, we also teamed up with New Era to create a matching fitted featuring the classic navy/white Yankee hat updated with a gold border around the NY logo and a white/gold MLB batter man logo on the back. Limited quantities will be available at a retail price of $38.

The “Gold Standard” collection releases Friday, May 12th, at 12 noon EST in-store at both locations and online at
