This past Friday, the Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed in one of the most beloved players in the long and storied history of the game. What Allen Iverson brought to the hardwood for an entire career was unlike anything that has come before or after him.
Despite being small in stature by NBA standards, his fearless approach to the game and ability to succeed against any odds made him a heroic figure from day 1. But for many of us, it was his unwavering resolve to remain true to himself and what he represented that made him an easily embraceable new breed of superstar that helped to completely redefine what a pro athlete was expected to be in the post-Jordan era.
Allen’s refusal to be molded into the kind of star that the NBA wanted him to be is what made us love him. While his personal style and attitude brought all kinds of uneasiness to the previously buttoned-up world of David Stern and the league’s corporate sponsors, there was an undeniable sincerity and authenticity in everything Iverson did that made him easy to respect and fun to root for.
Here at Packer, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with AI and his iconic Reebok Question Mid a number of times over the years, and in each and every instance, we were floored by the unbridled passion people have for Allen and his first signature shoe. With our “Curtain Call” edition, we set out to create a special version that pays tribute to one of the most transcendent careers in sports history.
The shoe is an homage to Allen, his life in basketball and the lasting legacy of his impact on the sneaker world. Nods to the red and blue suede from the two original Question colorways can be found on the toe and ankle with a premium black pebbled Horween basketball leather upper referencing the game that AI has brought so much flavor to over the years.
Additional luxe touches come by way of full grain leather lace loops, accents and inner linings, as well as metal lace tips. The shoe also features the classic blue ice sole from the OG Questions, alternating Question and Vector logos on the lateral and medial sides, reflective 3M side panels, and the letters “A” and “I” replacing the standard number 3 graphics that have been historically found on the heels. The design is completed by tonal Packer branding on the tongue and tattoo-inspired “Bubba Chuck” graphics on the insoles as a call-out to Allen’s childhood nickname.
The “Curtain Call” Question Mids ($175) are limited to 500 pairs worldwide and will be available exclusively at a special release event this Friday, September 16th, when Packer and Iverson photography guru, Gary Land, will be taking over Reebok’s Union Square store in NYC. Allen, himself, will be in attendance to celebrate the release and meet with fans. Stay tuned for more info still to come…
We’ve teamed up with Reebok for a special Packer Exclusive trio of Instapump Fury’s that dissects the iconic OG Citron/Black/Red colorway to create three new twists on the instantly recognizable color scheme.
The three main OG Fury colors have all been given their own standalone colorway, using Red, Hyper Green and Black as the respective base colors with touches of accents from the others — Hyper Green with some touches of Red, Red with some touches of Hyper Green, and then the Black pair featuring both accent colors for a new interpretation of the original formula. As a nod to the classic build, all material specs are based off the OG Fury as well.
In addition to the three adult size releases, we’ve also cooked up a version of the red-based pair just for kids. Featuring a rear velcro strap and squeaking Pump ball on the tongue, the toddlers’ pairs will be available in size 2-10.
Look for all four pairs to release 12 noon EST this Friday, July 29th, exclusively in-store at both Packer locations and online at PackerShoes.com.

Reebok just kicked off an ongoing series of video shorts exploring the faces behind the scenes at some of the world’s top sneaker shops. We’re honored to be represented in the introductory segment with a focus on our very own photographer extraordinaire, Stan Chan, who makes up one half of our world class photo team. Congrats to @stan.stills on an amazing profile piece and a big thanks to Reebok for including us in the project.
The Reebok Phase 1 made its official debut in 1984 with the Pro edition releasing later that year. By 1985, the shoe had become one of the hottest commodities on the shelf at the Packer Shoes Yonkers store and other urban-based retailers around the country. Although it was original created to be a performance tennis shoe, one of the driving forces behind the Phase 1’s popularity was the fact that it quickly became a go-to choice for fashionable street hustlers of the time.
With its sleek, luxe look, the Phase 1 could be found flaunted on the feet of stylish trendsetters on the mid-80s corners of NYC and other cities and quickly spread from there. As a nod to the model’s original outlaw roots, the Packer “Corner ’85” edition takes it back to its glory days with materials and design cues pulled straight from that era.
Hearkening back to a time when street style was ruled by black leather, gold jewelry and exotic reptile skins, the Packer Phase 1 re-imagines the iconic silhouette in a look that would have felt right at home. The shoe features premium black garment leather uppers with croc-embossed white leather on the tongues and heel tabs. A gum outsole adds another classic element with the icing on top coming by way of faux gold accents on the lace tip aglets and nameplate-inspired Packer-branded lace dubraes.
The Phase 1 Pro “Corner ’85” will release 12 noon EST this Friday, May 13th, in-store at both shop locations and online at PackerShoes.com for a retail price of $110.
In addition to the shoe, will be a Packer-exclusive black/gold New Era NY Yankees fitted featuring a tonal 1985 graphic on the side ($40).
Purchase includes the shoe and limited edition co-branded OG Skull-Kun vinyl toy for a retail price of $180.
To align with the Japan launch and the celebration of Golden Week, the online release will be Thursday night at 12 midnight EST @ PackerShoes.com.
In-store release will be 12 noon on Friday, April 29th, at both Packer locations.
