Asics delivers a 1995 model called the Diablo and and a more familiar GEL-Lyte V in two minimal colorways. The Diablo offers a breathable mesh tongue, along with perforated pigskin nubuck panels in grey and white over a speckled gray midsole. The GEL-Lyte V was ahead of its time in 1993 when it released with a sock construction, and this pastel pink version pairs a suede upper with a cream sockliner for a balanced take on an iconic silhouette.

“When we initially introduced the “Dirty Buck” concept as part of the Gel-Lyte III anniversary celebration, it was something which was so out of the box design-wise, yet at the same time so fitting for us to represent our roots and the legacy of our original store. When it comes to style — heritage, history and timelessness are more than just adjectives, they’re the building blocks of what fashion is, has been and will be. Does style change and evolve? Of course, but its core values do not.”
“There were so many other great colorways and ideas that we had left on the creative cutting room floor when working on the “Dirty Buck” that we always felt there was more to be done with the concept. With our 110th year anniversary approaching, we thought that telling this story with a partner like J.Crew was not only outside the realm of what traditional retail is used to, but also a natural fit in terms of celebrating the idea of timeless menswear cornerstones.”

Paris’ colette is typically known for its more aggressive patterns on their collaborative models, yet this “Yukata” offering is more subdued. In collete’s well-known blue and white, this model offers subtle embroidery on the upper and branding on the heel and footbed.
Patta x Asics Gel Respector – Beige/Orange ($160) Releasing 12 noon on Saturday, March 19th, in-store at our Teaneck location.
Any remaining stock will be available Saturday at 8pm EST online @ PackerShoes.com.
Continuing with the 25th Anniversary collaborative rollout of the Asics GEL-Lyte III model, this month we take a look at London’s own Footpatrol and their creative rendition entitle “Squad”.
Inspired by the original Footpatrol gasmask logo the GEL-LYTE III ‘Squad’ symbolises a time of conflict & struggle for many Britons but also reminiscent of a time when people came together in the hardest of times. The end result is the Footpatrol x ASICS Tiger GEL-LYTE III ‘Squad’.
Incorporating elements from their OG gasmask logo which formed the base for the colour palette, a rich Olive Branch pigskin suede features on the upper, accented with Metallic Gold and Black details throughout. Additional features include perforated details on the toe-box and medial & lateral quarter panels, with a hairy pigskin suede to the split-tongue, a deep Black suede ASICS waves logo on the lateral panel with a tonal ASICS waves logo on the medial side highlighted with a reflective Metallic Gold trim.
The premium styling continues with soft Willow coloured inner lining and matching footbed, with the OG Footpatrol gasmask logo printed on the footbed heel. Further Footpatrol branding features throughout, the FP collegiate logo on the heel, and the Bar logo on the lateral side of the right shoe, and medial side of the left. This detail is also replicated on both panels with the ASICS Tiger GEL-LYTE III logo. The shoe comes supplied with a set of three laces – a Willow coloured lace, a reflective Olive Branch coloured rope lace, and an Olive Branch flat lace with a morse code message printed in Black that spells out ‘Footpatrol GEL-LYTE III’.
Rounding off the theme of our co-lab is the ‘FP SQUAD’ embroidered logo that carrys the message ’11 Members, 1 Squad Leader’ on the inside of the split-tongue.
Look for the Footpatrol x Asics GEL-Lyte III 25th Anniversary “Squad” edition to launch at 12pm EDT this Saturday – August 29th – in-store only at Packer Shoes.
