During the 1996-97 NBA season, the National Basketball Association celebrated it’s 50th anniversary. During that season all 30 NBA teams donned special 50th anniversary team jerseys with a metallic gold “NBA” logo in addition to team warm-up gear with a “NBA at 50” patch to commemorate the celebration.
It was during this season that we were introduced to the Los Angeles Lakers’ rookie shooting guard Kobe Bryant as he began to take the league by storm with his superior athleticism. During the 1997 NBA dunk contest at All-Star Weekend, young Kobe took home the trophy displaying an assortment of high-flying dunks while wearing the Lakers’ “NBA at 50” warm-up shooting shirt without even breaking a sweat.
This special edition shooting shirt was immediately put into the vault after that memorable season, never again to be re-released… UNTIL NOW!
Paying homage Kobe’s first and only NBA Dunk Contest title while also serving as celebration of his return from a severe left achilles injury, we introduce the Packer Shoes x Mitchell & Ness “1996-97” Los Angeles Lakers NBA Shooting Shirt.
The Packer Shoes x Mitchell & Ness “1996-97” LA Lakers NBA HWC shooting shirt goes on sale this Sunday, December 8th exclusively online at PackerShoes.com at 8:08am EST with a limited run available in-store Monday, December 9th at 12pm noon EST.
