The ASICS archives are deep with buried treasure, and one of their rarer gems have just surfaced to the delight of many running aficionados.
The GEL SIGHT was originally created for the Japanese Olympic team in 1992 and the model never officially released outside of Japan. Now it finally makes its global return, true to its original form down to the smallest detail; from the custom toe pattern, to the “Build Up” midsole, to the visible window technology found underfoot on the outsole.
The OG “World Challenger” colorway referenced Japan’s Olympic aspirations, and now sets its sights on the retro runner competition as it makes its long awaited comeback in 2015.
The ASICS GEL-Sight OG “World Challenger” is now available both in-store and online at PackerShoes.com.
On behalf of the entire staff of Token 38 by Packer Shoes & Sneakersnstuff, from the bottom of our hearts we sincerely say thank you to everyone who came out this past weekend and participated in our pop-up experience. To our friends and colleagues at Reebok Classic, Mitchell & Ness, Stance Socks, Jason Markk and Shopify, words cannot express how appreciative we all are in having the opportunity to work collectively with each company. Taking a step back, from top to bottom, the professionalism, talent and dedication each company put into this project has been overwhelming and we forever owe an infinite debt of gratitude (#squad).
Additionally we would like to thank every journalist and media partner for their coverage of our pop-up experience. Supreme thank you goes out to Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’neal, Dominique Wilkins, Shawn Kemp, Sway Calloway and the entire “Sway in the Morning” crew, DJ Laura Stylez, DJ Clark Kent, DJ Getlive, DJ Marc Montoya, CCNY, the crew at Rivington F+B and last but not least the entire Sneakersnstuff and Packer Shoes staff for making this past weekend one for the ages!
The dynamic duo of Puma and fashion house Alexander McQueen continue their fashion forward partnership, this time with two New York-esque color offerings of the MCQ Move Lo.
On the black / silver color option we find a sophisticated caged leather upper with pig suede hits on the toe cap and heel with a metallic silver treated leather underlay to add just the correct amount of pop. Additional features include royal blue accents throughout the caged leather cut outs set on top of a chunky off-white midsole with waxed shoe laces to complete the look.
Accompanying the black/silver MCQ Move Lo is another NYC inspired color offering which features the same premium leather/pig suede upper and chunky midsole construction, but with a bit of a twist found in an orange netted mesh applied on the tongue and side.
Both colorways of the Alexander McQueen x Puma MCQ Move Lo are now available both in-store and online at PackerShoes.com.
As we conclude our 2014 Packer Shoes 12 days of Christmas, we would like to extend our gratitude to each individual brand who participated in making our (officially) annual rollout lively and festive for our customers. While we close the book on the year long celebration of our 10th anniversary of opening up shop in Teaneck, NJ, our last collaborative offering of the year brings us full circle to the beginning.
Upon our grand opening at our current store location ten years ago, word of mouth quickly spread about the assortment of footwear product we had stocked. While our display shelves consisted of various hard to obtain retro and vintage footwear pieces that were carried over from our original Yonkers, NY store – there was one particular shoe that caused the most commotion amongst our initial customers – the atmos Japan x Nike Air Max 1 B “Viotech”.
To put this into proper perspective, the initial release of this shoe pre-dated routine weekend/twitter link only launch dates. This was at a time when PayPal was still in it’s infancy, you could not buy Air Force 1’s online at all, and social media for sneaker heads solely consisted of Niketalk and Instyleshoes web forums. Back then one did not have the luxury of being able to go online to purchase regional product from international boutiques at the rate customers do today. You had to put in your work. The Viotech AM1 was exclusive to Japan only. So when we opened our doors on our very first day of business ten years ago, many made the trek from far and wide for the chance to purchase the elusive shoe domestically. Being able to carry footwear product normally unavailable or that was never ranged for our locale to our everyday consumer sort of shaped us into becoming a destination location that we still are and has allowed us to maintain the international following we have today.
Serving as an ode to the foundation of our business while also being the first recorded sale in Teaneck, in collaboration with our good friends at Staple Design and world renowned graphic artist Jack Stocker, we proudly introduce the our “10th Anniversary” Viotech Tee.
Look for the Packer x Staple x Jack Stocker “10th Anniversary” Tee ($30 USD) to launch at 12am midnight EST – Wednesday (December 24th) – exclusively online at PackerShoes.com and at 12pm noon in-store.
